This study aimed to develop and validate a strategic roadmap for improving the business environment of Iran’s automotive parts industry, with emphasis on resources and infrastructure, research and development, technology, product development, market requirements, and strategic orientations. This applied-developmental study employed a sequential mixed-methods design. In the qualitative phase, academic experts, senior managers, and specialists familiar with Iran’s automotive parts industry were recruited through theoretical, purposive, and snowball sampling. Theoretical saturation was achieved at the fourteenth interview, although interviews continued through the eighteenth participant. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and group analysis and were analyzed through thematic analysis. The credibility of the qualitative findings was assessed through external review and triangulation, while coding reliability was evaluated using Cohen’s kappa coefficient. Following development of the preliminary framework, the adequacy, consistency, and validity of the roadmap components were evaluated through expert assessments, inferential statistical tests, and confirmatory factor analysis. The final roadmap was organized according to a strategic roadmapping framework incorporating functional/workshop and longitudinal/structural dimensions. Inferential analyses demonstrated that all criteria relating to process adequacy, content richness, and analytical quality were significantly above the reference level, with t values ranging from 11.321 to 19.671 and all tests reaching statistical significance at p<0.001. Independent expert validation likewise confirmed the process, content, and qualitative-analytical validity of the proposed roadmap, with all validation criteria statistically significant at p<0.001. Confirmatory factor analysis further supported the proposed structure of the factors associated with product-development trends and strategic orientations. In addition, a Cohen’s kappa coefficient of 0.726 indicated an acceptable level of inter-coder agreement and supported the reliability of the qualitative coding process. The proposed roadmap provides an integrated framework for directing the development of Iran’s automotive parts industry by linking investment, infrastructure, technology, research and development, market orientation, product development, and competitiveness. Its coordinated implementation can support strategic decision-making, technological upgrading, innovation, export development, reduced import dependence, sustainable employment, and improved economic resilience across the industry.
